As usual, I'm a bit late to the game, but I'll blame it on the fact that I'm not from Columbus. The Shadowbox Cabaret Theater is at Easton Town Center and used to be on Spring Street where it burned down in 1999 or so. Tickets are usually $30 but with Christie's group from the Juvenile Court we got tickets for $10 - perhaps one of the greatest deals in live theater entertainment.

The show was called Good Vibrations and they opened with the Beach Boys song of the same name. The lead guitarist of the band reminded me of G.E. Smith who was the lead guiatarist for Hall and Oats (guilty pleasure) and then led the SNL band during the mid-90s. Everytime we looked at him he was standing still, with barely any facial expression whether he was playing or not. Farrah pointed out that he was a dead ringer for Tom Petty (minus the giant matchsticks and a dixie cup). What is it about guitarists? They all look alike!

There were lots of knocks on spring break culture as well as Greek fraternities - thank goodness they avoided the sorority cliche - barely. The band's version of Go Your Own Way was excellent and their cover of Van Halen's Right Now was spot on.

I can't believe I haven't discovered Shadowbox before but I plan to visit more often from now on. It's a perfect outing for out of town palsies as well!
