Turning Thirty...

I turned 30 on the 8th and had the greatest weekend ever. I took Friday off and Sissy drove to Columbus at some un-godly hour and arrived by 10:00am that day. She was a trooper and helped decorate KHaus and finish preparations for the Holiday Happening on Saturday. I've always felt strongly about celebrating or observing important milestones in the lives of others. Whether it be a wedding, funeral, birth of a child or a birthday, I try to be there to show my support. I was humbled and excited to see how many of my friends and family wanted to celebrate my 30th birthday with me.

Before the 6th annual Holiday Happening on Saturday, Jeff flew in around noon amidst a snow storm. Quite the dedication for a California man to brave an Ohio winter in December! And for the second year in a row weather threatened to slow down the holiday revelry at KHaus. While picking Jeff up at Port Columbus, the Winnie Cooper spun out as we left. Then Sissy braved the roads to head to Target and also spun out on King Ave. Despite the weather. I announced that the show must go on and we had a great time all evening. We did decide that everyone was getting old - the first annual Happening came to a close around 4:30am, but this year the last party-goer left at 11:30pm and we were doing dishes by midnight. No absinthe-induced cat food eating incidents this time!

On Sunday, Sissy took off for NY and Jeff visited with his parents in Springfield. Fighting a cold since Thanksgiving, I cleaned up KHaus, laid around watching tv and awaited Jeff's return later that afternoon. We decided to check out the German Village Lights with RJ, Samadu, JHo and some of her pals and enjoyed the free Glüwein and German pastries served up by the local merchants. Monday was the day of my actual birthday and we decided to check out Australia at Easton. Sadly, my early birthday revelry was cut short when the Winnie Cooper shot a hub bearing and we decided to have her towed to the garage. Samadu was a saint and picked us up, and delivered us both to the fabulous birthday party Farrah coordinated at the restaurant M at Miranova.

M is rather swanky and perched on the river overlooking the Columbus skyline. We had a private room and 11 of us dined together on delicious meals and amazing desserts. My favorite dessert was the coffee and doughnuts tray - homemade doughnut holes with a small mug of cappuccino flavored ice cream with a frothy whipped cream cap. We had such a great time and it was awesome to hang out with so many good friends. Between Sissy, Jeff and Farrah's efforts to make my birthday special, this has to be the best ever! I almost can't wait for 40!

It absolutely was the greatest weekend ever and after you visit me for my 37th birthday in a few weeks, there will be a tie for the greatest weekend ever. Although I don't quite have as many friends as you, so we'll have to mostly make do with just the two of us. I'm sure we'll manage. ;-D
